Great Smoky Mountains National Park

View from the Appalachian Trail. I think this was taken where the trail bypasses Charlie's Bunion in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It was sometime in February many, many years ago. (85K)

Another view from the Appalachian Trail...this one from Spence Field looking east. Thunderhead is the peak just out of the picture on the right. (110K)

My folks, Jo and Paul, at LeConte Lodge. The lodge is on the top of Mt. LeConte and is only accessable by trail. This was their first hikeing trip and like me they're now hooked. We got cought in a really bad snow storm on the Boulevard Trail that morning while heading to the Appalachian Trail. (60K)

Backpacking shelter at Spence Field. (72K)

Sun breaking through the clouds after a heavy rain! (90K)
