Welcome to My Home Page

I am a graduate faculty member of the Center for Advanced Computer Studies and Lockheed Martin Endowed Professor in Computer Science at the University of Louisiana. I am also the Director of the Bioinformatics Research Lab.

I am passionate about discovering knowledge or the underlying mechanism by integrating and analyzing massive disparate data sets. Machine learning, particularly the deep learning with sufficient data sets will help to select the appropriate features that improve the outcome of classifiers. Currently, we are applying deep learning approaches for predictive analytics including the problems in life sciences. It is a blessing for working in life sciences since good quality and relatively clean data sets are available for research purposes, for example, data sets from Cancer Genomic Atlas and the ENCODE project. Interested students contact me via e-mail. Please direct any questions regarding the requirements for admission and assistantship to the School of Computing & Informatics.
