Call for Tutorials: ICDM 2005

The 5th IEEE International Conference on Data Mining, Houston, Texas, USA, 27-30 November 2005

The 5^th IEEE International Conference on Data Mining (ICDM'05) solicits tutorial proposals on the topics that match those of interest of the ICDM '05 Call for Papers. Tutorials will be held on November 27, immediately preceding the conference on November 28-30. The length of the tutorials may be half day (3 hours) or full day (6 hours).

Important Dates

• Tutorial proposal submissions: 15 June 2005;
• Acceptance notices: 7 July 2005;
• Camera ready copy of tutorial handouts from authors due: 26 Septmeber 2005;
• Tutorials at ICDM '05: 27 November 2005.
• Conference: 28 - 30 November 2005.

SUBMISSION DETAILS

Tutorial proposals may be in PDF or MS WORD and should include the following information:

• Title and abstract of the tutorial, and authors’ list with affiliations. This part should not exceed one page.
• Short biographies of the speakers and the contact information of the speakers including the e-mail address, phone number and the fax number.
• Intended audience and prerequisite knowledge required of the audience.
• Justification on the merit of the tutorial for the data mining community.
• Length of the tutorial: half day (3 hours) or one day (6 hours)
• Enough material such as handouts and slides should be included if available. Providing such materials will show depth and maturity of the tutorial. Note that an ICDM tutorial should not primarily advertise the tutor's research or product.

Notice

ICDM '05 will provide an honorarium of $1,000 for a full day tutorial and $500 for a half-day tutorial. It is possible that the conference can provide travel expenses, meal expenses, and one night's hotel expenses for tutorial speakers. Please provide an estimate for these expenses in your proposal if you are expecting the conference to cover these expenses for you. We will assume that the tutorial speakers will be able to cover these expenses from their own sources if no estimate is included in their proposals.
