I started my career at UL in the Fall of 2002. I am passionate about embedded systems and hope to get my students equally excited. This semester for my 583 class, I am eager to show how to design and implement embedded systems. My class will consist of the following:
- Design technology using VHDL
- Basic architecture
- Modeling behavior and structure
- Current microcontrollers and microprocessors and their operation
- Basic input/output
- Embedded design flow tools and techniques, and how they differ from native PC development, such as programming, simulation, and in-circuit debugging
- Memory
- Fieldbus interfacing using common protocols, such as I2C, Manchester, and asynchronous serial (UART)
Ideally, my students will have the knowledge to build their own embedded computer systems.
