RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) is a wireless system composed of readers and tags that communicate through short range radio. With the dramatically decreased cost of tags and the increasingly improved storage and communication capabilities, RFID has shown its great potential in a wide range of application domains from supply chain management and retails, to tracking and localization, and to near- field communication and control. This talk gives an introduction to RFID, covering its origins, principles, standards, applications, and challenges.
