Meet Our People

The bioinformatics research and development team at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette includes the following faculty members and the graduate students.

Faculty Members

Dr. Raja Loganantharaj   [Center for Advanced Computer Studies]
His research interests in bioinformatics include gene regulation, functional annotations, microarray analysis, and mining for interesting patterns from genomic sequences, interaction netrworks, and bio-medical databases. He earned his Ph. D. from Colorado State University in computer science. He holds M. Eng. in Computer Application Technology, and B. Sc (Hons) Eng. in Electric and Electronic Engineering. He has a professional certification in bioinformatics from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Graduate Students

 
Mr. Paul Bible  

Graduating cum laude from Millsaps College in Jackson Mississippi, Paul has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Spanish as a double major. He is currently a Ph.D. student. His interests include functional genomics, interaction networks, and cancer causing genes.
Ms. Sara Rayburn  
<Image is coming soon> She is working on her M.Sc. thesis in finding novel motif from a set of genomic sequences. Following her M.Sc. she is planning to pursue her Ph. D. research in Bioinformatics.
Robert Tesch  
He holds a Bachelors degree in Computer Science from UL with a double major study in mathematics. He is now pursuing a Masters in the field of Bioinformatics. He has research experience at the undergraduate level from the University Biomathematics Program.
Janahan Gnanachandran
He holds Bachelors degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Anna University. He is now pursuing a Masters with the focus in Genome Sequence analysis and Genome Wide Association
Mr. Raghunathan Sridhar
He holhs Bachelors from Vardhaman College of Engineering (JNTU). He is now pursuing a Masters with the focus in mining genomic sequences.
Ms. Sumi Singh  
She holds bachelors and masters in engineering with major in Biomedical Engineering. She is interested in studying gene expression analysis, mutation and their involvement in cancer.

Alumni

Mr. Mazen Atwi
He received his Masters in Computer Science from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. His M.Sc. project was in the area of gene ontology and functional similaity.

Mr. T.R.Janarththanan
He holds a Masters and Bachelors Degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. His research interests was protein structure prediction, protein folding and modeling.

Mr. Vivek Philip
He holds Masters and Bachelors degree in Computer Science from the University of Pune. He is pursuing Masters thesis research in Bioinformatics. His research interests was protein structure verification algorithms and their implementations.

Mr. Badri N Vardarajan
He holds Bachelors degree in Computer Science from the University of Delhi.He is MS student currently pusuing research in Protein structure Alignment.His research interests was protein structure prediction, srtucture evaluation and alignment.

Mr. Deepesh Tated
He holds a Bachelors degree in Computer Science from M.V.S.R. Engineering College (Osmania University.) He is currently a M.S. candidate pursuing Masters Thesis research in Bioinformatics. His research area/interests was multiple sequence alignments, phylogeny tree construction and analysis of splice sites.
