Abstract

Research conducted in the area of music cognition is broadly based, accounting for many different aspects involved in the perception, appreciation and performance of music. In considering the performance of music, there has been a body of research that has distinguished the differences of gross and functional neuroanatomy between musicians and non-musicians. This body of research will be discussed. The need for clarification in connecting these differences with corresponding behavior will also be discussed as a concern for future research prospects.
